Zoe is off to Berlin and points beyond!

With an emotional mix of excitement for her grand adventure, and trepidation about our “little girl” heading off to Europe alone and with very little planned out… We bid farewell to Zoe, as she was about to leave for the Oakland airport and then flying to Berlin, GERMANY! She has a 1-way ticket and a few thousand $$$ int he bank, and hopes to travel and live on the cheap, and hopes her money will last through fall-winter-spring, maybe all the way to June and beyond…

You can follow her travel blog at www.wolfmigration.wordpress.com.

Yosemite

Some lovely time lapse photography of Yosemite National Park, by Project Yosemite:

Yosemite HD II from Project Yosemite on Vimeo.

They introduce themselves (at www.projectyose.com) thusly:

“Project Yosemite is a time-lapse video project set in Yosemite National Park and shot by Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill. We started it in January 2012 after meeting through the video sharing website, Vimeo. The idea for the project came to us during our first overnight trip to Half Dome.”

Home in New England

I don’t mean to knock Santa Cruz; it’s a lovely wonderful place and it is home… but in my heart and memory —and I feel it in my bones— New England is home home, my roots.

Jody and I flew a red eye to Boston, arriving 7:30 am. Got the rental car (Ford C-Max hybrid) and meandered north, visiting Salem and Danvers for some “witch history” since Rebecca Towne Nurse and Mary Towne Esty —2 of the women hanged— were my aunts… I’d been to Salem a few times before, but never to the Rebecca Nurse Homestead, a few miles away in Danvers, MA.
